Kelly's life and passion revolves around dance. In 2000, a Fulbright scholarship took her to the Netherlands where she remained for 20 years. While there, Kelly worked with many different choreographers such as; Emio Greco & Pieter C. Scholten (EG|PC), Krisztina de Chatel, Suzy Blok, Liat Waysbort and Dylan Newcomb in companies such as ICKamsterdam and Dansgroep Amsterdam. Kelly also worked in mime/theater onstage with Jakop Ahlbom and Compagnietheater (Theu Boermans) and in films with directors such as Arno Dierickx and Noud Heerkens. Alongside her dance career she completed an acting program at the Atlantic Theatre School in New York City.
Kelly recently became a certified Countertechnique teacher, a technique she steadily used throughout her career to keep her healthy and inspired. She is excited to currently share this practice at the Peabody Institute at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, USA. She previously taught open professional classes as well as at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts. Kelly has also completed her Double Skin/Double Mind (DS/DM) Teacher Training, a method created by Emio Greco and Pieter C. Scholten, in 2017 after four years of intensive work within ICKamsterdam. Prior to moving to the USA, she worked with the company as the artistic coordinator of the dance company's academy.
In 2019, she received an M.F.A. In Dance and Certificate in World Performance Studies from the University of Michigan. Her main interests in study were focused on pedagogical methods in dance incorporating both body and mind.
Beyond dance, Kelly is also a fully certified Pilates and Vinyasa Yoga instructor. Kelly enjoys creating an extremely physical experience for her students while also encouraging them to take the practice deeper beyond the physical, a training that is both concentrated and joyous. Kelly incorporates her interest in education and psychology while working with clients and students to achieve goals while working in a positively charged environment.
In her free time, Kelly enjoys running, hanging out on the beach, reading, meeting up with friends, and spending time with her husband Blake and their labrador Fiona.
